Team Tryouts Overview
HQDallas Team Tryout Policy
To ensure a fair, transparent, and professional selection process, HQDallas has established the following policies for all competitive team tryouts. By participating in tryouts, dancers agree to abide by the guidelines outlined below.
1. Eligibility
- Dancers must meet all posted age, skill, and style requirements for the team(s) they wish to audition for.
- Previous team participation does not guarantee placement.
- Taking a class from the director of prospective team(s) and/or attending a segment of or full rehearsal upon leadership discretion.
2. Registration Requirements
- All participants must register through zenplanner prior to attending any audition classes.
- Dancers must indicate which team(s) they intend to try out for at the front desk before participating.
- Any changes to team selection must be communicated to HQ staff before the end of the tryout period.
3. Class Attendance
- Dancers are required to attend the designated audition classes led by the director(s) of the team(s) they wish to join.
- Attendance and participation in these classes is a critical component of evaluation.
- Missing required classes may affect placement eligibility.
4. Evaluation Criteria
Dancers will be assessed based on:
- Technique, execution, and ability to pick up choreography
- Performance quality, musicality, and stage presence
- Work ethic, attitude, professionalism, and ability to take direction
- Team compatibility, reliability, and growth potential
5. Team Placement
- Dancers may be selected for one or multiple teams based on their performance and fit.
- Being invited to join a team does not guarantee a spot unless the dancer completes all membership requirements and payments by the stated deadline.
- If accepted to multiple teams, dancers may choose to participate in one or more. Membership fees are flat-rate and do not increase for multiple team placements; however, time commitments will.
6. Membership Commitment
- To secure a roster spot, dancers must enroll in the HQ Teams Membership by the communicated deadline.
- Failure to complete membership registration will result in forfeiture of placement, which may be offered to another dancer.
- Rehearsal schedules, attendance expectations, and performance obligations must be honored once enrolled.
7. Professional Conduct
- Respectful behavior toward instructors, teammates, and staff is mandatory at all times.
- Negative, disruptive, or disrespectful conduct may result in removal from consideration or dismissal from the team.
8. Final Decisions
- All placement decisions are final. HQDallas reserves the right to modify team rosters as needed to preserve artistic and organizational integrity.
- Appeals or requests for re-evaluation will not be considered.
